NEW HAMBURG -- The sign-up deadline for the ninth annual Kow Pasture Classic is March 20.
The event, billed as an "insult to the sport of golf," will be held March 27 at Schindler's Tavern in New Hamburg, and will benefit the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center.
Four-person teams will hit tennis balls around the course Melvin Schott's nearby farm using any excuse for a golf club. They will compete for first- and second-place prizes.
Booby prizes for poor sportsmanship, wildest dress, worst score and most unusual clubs also will be awarded.
The entry fee is $12.50 per person or $50 per team.
Mail entries to Kohlfeld Distributing, P. O. Box 660, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63702 or Schindler's Tavern, Highway A, New Hamburg, Mo. 63736. Checks should be made payable to the Kenny Rogers CP Center.
The first 100 teams to enter will play, and tee times will begin at 7 a.m. March 27.
The event is sponsored by Kohlfeld Distributing and Stag Beer.
For more information, phone Mitch Miller at Kohlfeld's Distributing (243-3931), Cy Glueck (339-0469) or Schindler's (545-3709).
