Kinsey Russell, Breakfast Optimist Club of Cape Girardeau's president, has been involved with youth-oriented activities for several years.
Russell, who joined the breakfast club three or four years ago, had been active with Boy Scouts and church youth groups prior to his involvement with the optimists.
It was his enthusiasm for youth activities, as well as the fact that his father had been a member, that drew him to the Cape Breakfast Optimist Club.
"The youth orientation of Optimist International really appealed to me," he said. "I chose this particular club because my father was a charter member and because I was impressed with the way this club relates all of its activities to community youth."
Russell has previously served the club as a member of the board of directors and as president-elect. He has been active with the fishing rodeo and is his club's representative for Cub Scout Pack 506. His pet project this year, he said, has been the Safety Village, which is sponsored in conjunction with Community Traffic Safety.
After his term as president expires, Russell said, he wants to remain active with the Cub Scout pack and other Optimist projects.
A native of Cape Girardeau, Russell is a Cape Girardeau city engineer. He and his wife, Mary, have an 11-year-old son, Kinsey Walker Russell.
