Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder has been announced as the speaker at the monthly meeting of the Cape Girardeau County Republican Women's Club. The meeting is at noon Friday at Dexter Bar-B-Que. Kinder is seeking re-election to a third term. He was elected the state's 46th lieutenant governor in 2004.
Born and raised in Cape Girardeau, Kinder served for 12 years in the Missouri Senate, representing the counties of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Mississippi, Perry and Scott. In 2001, Kinder was elected president pro tem, the Senate's top elected official. He was the first Republican to hold that position in 53 years.
