JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The wealthy Humphreys family has pumped an additional $1 million into Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder's campaign for Missouri governor.
Kinder on Monday reported his campaign received $500,000 each from David Humphreys and his sister, Sarah Atkins.
Humphreys is president and CEO of Joplin-based TAMKO Building Products, where his sister is a consultant.
Humphreys in 2012 had dropped support of Kinder after media reports the candidate repeatedly visited a strip club in the 1990s.
But Atkins and Humphreys now have given a combined $1.5 million for his bid for governor. Kinder, a Cape Girardeau native, said he's grateful.
The recent checks come after new campaign-finance reports showed Kinder trailed behind other GOP contenders for the state's top executive seat in fundraising.
Kinder faces a four-way primary Aug. 2.
