Tom Kimbel, a Jackson police officer for 17 years who is now retired, will fill the open seat on the Jackson Board of Aldermen, voters decided Tuesday. Kimbel beat out businessman Ron Clark with 60 percent of the vote. Kimbel received 113 votes, while Clark received 74 votes.

Results are unofficial until they're certified by the Cape Girardeau County Commission.

In an interview before the election, Kimbel said he was interested in helping to bring more jobs to Jackson. Kimbel has attended most board of aldermen meetings since announcing he was running for the Ward 4 seat.

Wanda Young, incumbent in Ward 1, ran unopposed for her seat. David Hitt in Ward 2 and Mark Dambach in Ward 3 also ran unopposed for their seats on the board of aldermen.

In Delta, 31 residents cast a ballot, voting in Dale Hobeck to serve on the Delta Board of Aldermen. Hobeck will fill the Ward 1 seat, receiving 64 percent of the vote. Harold Gene Looney in Ward 2 ran unopposed for his seat on the board.
