Kim Baker, lauded as "not just a talker but a doer," was named Realtor of the Year Friday night.
The announcement was made during the Cape Girardeau County Board of Realtors Christmas Installation and Awards Banquet at Deerfield.
Baker has been a Realtor for five years and is employed by Town & Country Realty. She is single and lives in Cape Girardeau.
She was cited for her community involvement with such organizations as the American Cancer Society, Toybox and the Missing and Exploited Children Association in addition to her work on many Board of Realtors committees.
Nominations for the award are made by realty companies and voted on by the organization's 272 members.
The presentation was made by Martha Hamilton, the 1996 Realtor of the Year.
Also speaking Friday night was Steve Johnston, a Kansas Citian who is president-elect of the Missouri Association of Realtors.
Cheryl Huffman, the board's 1997 president-elect, was inducted as president for 1998, taking the reins from outgoing president David Donley.
