William J. Doane, professor of physics at Kent (Ohio) State University and director of the National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center on Advanced Liquid Crystalline Optical Materials, will be the speaker at the annual Science Honors Program Thursday at Southeast Missouri State University.
The program is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom. Doane will speak on "A Coming Revolution in the Display Technology: Can We Compete With Japan?"
In addition, Doane, a native Missourian, will present a program at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Rhodes Hall auditorium on "Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals: New Materials for Light Modulators in Displays and Switchable Windows." Prototypes and displays of new technology will be incorporated in the presentation.
Doane has received 38 research grants and contracts totaling more than $10 million and has presented papers in 12 foreign countries.
