KENNETT, Mo. -- Assistant Fire Chief David Horton reported Monday afternoon that the Kennett Fire Department responded to an explosion at a location behind Rhews Endzone.
A resident, whose name was not provided to the newspaper, had, according to Horton, dug a pit in the yard, poured a considerable amount of gasoline in it and started a fire. The fire led to an explosion.
Officials with the Kennett Fire Station No. 2, located on First Street at Kennett, said they felt the fire station shake as a result of the explosion.
According to Horton, there were no injuries and the KFD extinguished the fire. The department issued a citation for illegal burning. A nearby resident, whose name was not available, was also issued an illegal burning citation, according to Horton.
