KENNETT, Mo. -- Officers with the Kennett Police Department have arrested a 40-year-old Kennett man on charges of first-degree assault and domestic violence.
According to official reports, the arrest was made at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Kennett police were dispatched to 308 Liberty St. for a report that a woman had been assaulted by her husband and that he had poured hot grease on her.
Upon arrival at the residence, officers found the victim covered with oil with blisters covering her face, back and neck.
According to police, the victim told officers she was cooking with a Fry Daddy cooker that contained some hot grease when her husband picked it up and threw it at her. This action caused the grease to hit her upper body.
After the incident, according to reports, the victim fled from the scene and her daughter called the police.
Her husband was found in the home, arrested and taken to the Dunklin County Justice Center.
The victim was treated for burns at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center.
A report on the assault has been sent to the office of the Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney.
