KENNETT, Mo. -- The charges against a Kennett man accused of murder have been upgraded.
Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Sokoloff said Jeremy Corcoran is now charged with first-degree murder, as well as armed criminal action, in the June death of 22-year-old Andy Tijerina, also of Kennett. Corcoran had been charged with second-degree murder previously.
Corcoran is accused of shooting Tijerina a number of times on the night of June 7, after an altercation at a home on South Hopper Street in Kennett.
Corcoran appeared in Division II of the Dunklin County 35th Circuit Court in Kennett on Tuesday, before Judge John Spielman. He will be back in court at 9 a.m. Sept. 2.
