KENNETT, Mo. -- A Kennett man was sentenced last week to two 15-year terms in the Department of Corrections on two counts of possession of a controlled substance, the Daily Dunklin Democrat reported. Torrance Reed was found guilty by a New Madrid County jury May 19. Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Sokoloff said the court ordered the sentences to run concurrently, but to run consecutively with sentences that Reed is already serving for robbery and felonious restraint. A Dunklin County jury found him guilty of those charges last year. Reed received sentences of 15 and 12 years on those charges. "Mr. Reed continued to commit serious offenses, even after he had serious charges pending. The courts and my office take that kind of persistent behavior very seriously," said Sokoloff, who prosecuted both cases.
