KENNETT, Mo. -- A Kennett man was charged Thursday with setting 13 residential fires.
According to the Dunklin County prosecutor's office, arson charges have been filed against 34-year-old Daniel Bugbee of Kennett.
Bugbee is charged with 13 counts of second-degree arson. The charges stem from a series of residential fires in Kennett that occurred between Dec. 1 and Tuesday.
The Kennett Police Department has investigated several leads in relation to various fires, mostly at abandoned residences around the city.
Following two residential fires on South Anthony Street, Detective Tim Trowbridge identified a possible witness. After a series of interrogations, a suspect was identified and through a photo lineup. Trowbridge interviewed Bugbee, who later confessed that he had committed approximately 13 arsons, according to police.
Bugbee took Trowbridge, along with interim Kennett police chief Steve Williams, to the residences he had burned down, police said.
Bugbee gave the details of each fire and was taken to the Dunklin County Justice Center, where he was being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond. His initial court appearance is set for Friday.
