KENNETT, Mo. -- A crop-duster pilot died after his plane apparently struck a power line and crashed Thursday morning, according to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder. The victim was identified as Jack Short, 48, of Kennett.

The crash happened at around 6 a.m. in a field off County Road 426, Sheriff Holder added. Short was pronounced dead at the scene. Holder said a cause of the crash had not yet been determined.

The Federal Aviation Administration had been notified of the crash and was expected to be on the scene later.
