Republican vice presidential candidate Jack Kemp may make a campaign stop in Cape Girardeau Friday.
The campaign schedule still was being drawn up Tuesday night, said Debbie Holt of the Dole-Kemp national campaign office in Washington, D.C.
Dole-Kemp campaign officials have informed 8th District congressional candidate Jo Ann Emerson's staff that Kemp might stop in Cape Girardeau late Friday afternoon.
The Emerson campaign had requested the Dole-Kemp campaign visit the 8th District. "We are part of the reason that they would be coming to Missouri," said Lloyd Smith of the Emerson camp.
Smith said the GOP is considering Cape Girardeau because it is a good media market and the Dole-Kemp ticket is competitive in the region.
Smith said Dole-Kemp campaign officials are considering holding an indoor rally.
