FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- A Wayne County commissioner accused of assaulting a couple with a handgun for tearing down his election signs was bound over on all charges during a preliminary hearing on Thursday, a Cape Girardeau County assistant prosecutor said.

Bruce W. Keel, 46, will be arraigned on charges of second-degree assault and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon on a date yet undetermined, assistant prosecutor Lora Cooper said.

Keel had allegedly threatened and assaulted a couple with a handgun last June in Mill Spring, Mo.

The Cape Girardeau prosecutor's office was appointed to handle the case while Madison County Associate Circuit Judge Robert Stillwell was asked to sit for the preliminary hearing.

Keel with have an arraignment date after a circuit judge is assigned to hear his case, Cooper said.
