Fox 23 KBSI has received permission from ABC to begin airing the controversial series "N.Y.P.D. Blue," beginning Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 p.m.

KBSI secured the right to air the series after the local ABC affiliate WSIL-TV refused to broadcast it last month.

"N.Y.P.D. Blue," a Steven Bochco creation, will begin airing Oct. 16, and in the following time slots until KBSI can begin airing the series in its original ABC timeslot -- Tuesdays at 9 p.m:

Episode 2: Sunday, Oct. 17, at 10 p.m.;

Episode 3: Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 9 p.m.;

Episode 4: Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 p.m.;

Episode 5: Sunday, Oct. 24, at 10 p.m.; and

Episode 6: (Live) Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 9 p.m.

KBSI will air the new season episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" on Monday nights at 9 p.m., beginning Oct. 18.

KBSI is the second non-ABC affiliate to air the series in the country.
