FRIEDHEIM -- Terry BerkBuegler, a recent graduate of Kansas City University, was one of two students who won first place in the 17th annual Student Landscape Architecture Competition.
Berkbuegler, who graduated with a degree in landscape architecture, and Mark Zielsdorf, of Topeka, Kansas, won the national design competition for their design reclamation of stone quarries for the Martin Marietta Aggregates' Greenwood Quarry in Cass County, Mo., near Kansas City.
The contest is sponsored jointly by the National Stone Association and the America Society of Landscape Architects.
Entries in the competition were judged on overall excellence in design, creativity and sensitivity to community needs. Berkbuegler and Zielsdorf has received $500 for their winning entry and the university received $700.
