On Thursday, two juveniles were charged with assault, and one incurred a felony charge for concealing a knife at school. Officers responded at 3:05 p.m. on Wednesday to a call that an 18-year-old man had been assaulted in his front yard on North Middle Street. According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the suspects were walking down the street, when the victim allegedly spoke to them about something they said. A fight broke out and the victim received a minor injury. Witness accounts and a nearby school bus stop led officers to believe that the suspects attended Central High School. Cooperation with the school resources officer led to the arrest of two 15- and 16-year-old boys. When they were searched, a large knife was found concealed on the 16-year-old. He was charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon. Both were charged with misdemeanor assault.
