A person was shot twice and treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries in Cape Girardeau on Sunday, June 16, police say.
At around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Cape Girardeau Police Department officers responded to the 200 block of Independence Street in reference to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, they learned a person had been shot.
Around 2:20 a.m., officers say they located the shooting suspect at a convenience store in the 1100 block of North Sprigg Street. The suspect ran away, and was taken into custody. The name of the suspect is not being released because he is a juvenile.
According to a news release, officers recovered three firearms, multiple rounds of ammunition, high-capacity magazines along with an illegal handgun switch.
