Cape Bicycle Cycling and Fitness Inc. has purchased the Amoco Service Station adjacent to the bicycle sales and service firm in the 1800 block of Broadway.
"We've owned the land there for six years," said Eric Gooden. "The station became available recently, and we saw the opportunity to obtain it."
Gooden and his wife, Jean Gooden, have operated a bicycle sales and service shop since 1978. They have been at the 1802 Broadway site since 1986.
The Amoco company has completely remodeled the service station at 1800 Broadway over the past couple of years
"The firm put in new gasoline tanks, new canopies and state-of-the-art dispensing equipment," said Gooden.
He said the station would offer minor repairs, specialize in Amoco's quick lube changes, and offer detailed auto washing service.
"We'll be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week," he said. "We're also looking into becoming a Missouri safety check station.
Gooden said the station will offer both self-service and full service.
"We're excited," said Gooden. "Our bicycle operation offers Schwinn and our service station offers Amoco, and both are quality products."
The bicycle shop also offers exercise bicycles, fitness equipment, cycling clothing and skateboards.
