Judge Ben Lewis set a jury trial for March 23 in Jackson. Poston faces up to seven years in jail if convicted.

The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department and state authorities began an investigation after a call in March that a 6-month-old baby girl was having a seizure and was passing out. The child was diagnosed with bleeding on the brain and eyes.

The investigation revealed Poston was the day care provider, and allegedly inflicted trauma to the baby's head during a feeding, consistent with shaking or other intentional act of force.
