A seventh and eighth grade academic team from Cape Girardeau Central Junior High School earned $200 in computer software for their performance in a national competition.
The team finished 29th in the nation in the 1991 All-Star Academic Team national competition. The students worked together to answer questions in mathematics, science, language arts and social studies.
As a round two qualifier and semi-finalist team, the students won the software.
Over 1,700 schools from all 50 states were involved in the competition. Over 30,000 students participated.
