Jonesboro man sentenced on sex abuse, child porn charges

JONESBORO, Ill. -- A Jonesboro man was sentenced Tuesday to 48 years in prison on sexual abuse and child pornography charges.

Gregory F. McCord, 51, was sentenced on one felony count of aggravated criminal sexual assault, four felony counts of criminal sexual assault, one felony count of child pornography and eight felony counts of unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, according to a news release from Union County Ill., State Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds. McCord was found guilty by a Union County jury in 2010 of the charges and Union County Judge Mark Boie handed down the sentence.

McCord was arrested in December 2007 when the Jonesboro Police Department and Illinois State Police executed a search warrant at his residence.
