Gerald Jones, president of the Missouri Association of Counties, will travel to Washington, D.C. Saturday to represent the state at the National Association of Counties' annual national legislative conference.
He will gather information about a number of topics, including homeland security, pending legislation and Internet sales. The traveling expenses are paid for by the association, not the county.
Jones, Cape Girardeau County's presiding commissioner, said he will use information learned at the conference to lobby federal government representatives on legislation affecting the county.
