Celia M. Duffett has joined St. Francis Medical Center's cardiothoracic team as the hospital's cardiovascular clinic nurse specialist.
In her new position, Duffett will be responsible for patient, family and community education, staff development, patient management and consultation, quality assurance and nursing research for publication.
She is a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University at Springfield, where she earned a bachelor's degree in nursing. She received a master's degree in nursing with a specialty in critical care and cardiovascular nursing at Emory University in Atlanta. She previously worked in cardiothoracic nursing at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, and Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University.
She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the American Heart Association and Sigma Theta Tau, an international honorary nursing society. She is certified in advanced cardiac life support and is a basic life support instructor.
