John Grimm, a Cape Girardeau attorney, has been appointed Cape Girardeau County coordinator for Lt. Gov. Mel Carnahan, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for governor this year.
Grimm will be responsible for organizing support and coordinating campaign activities in the county.
Grimm has been a longtime friend and supporter of the Carnahan's.
"I've known Mel and his family for many years, and I know him to be a man of integrity and extreme honesty," said Grimm. "I'm impressed by his plans for long term solutions to our economic problems, and I trust him to lead Missouri into the next century."
Grimm is in the law firm of Limbaugh, Russell, Syler, and Payne and has served as a member of the Cape County Democratic Central Committee.
"It's a great pleasure for me to have John join my team," said Carnahan, in announcing the appointment. "It means a great deal to me to have someone as hard working and dedicated as John support me in my bid for governor."
Carnahan, an attorney, has served as municipal judge and school board member in Rolla, served four years in the Missouri House, was state treasurer from 1981-85, and in 1988 was elected lieutenant governor.
He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 1984.
