Members of Cape Girardeau's Bethel No. 51 Job's Daughters recently competed in events ranging from performing and visual arts to speech and creative writing at their grand session held in Jefferson City, Mo.

More than 400 girls and chaperones from Missouri and Kansas attended. Area attendees were Jennifer Smith, Macayla Hopple, both of Cape Girardeau; Heather Hileman of Jackson; Courtnie Sitzes of Marble Hill, Mo.; Merandia Gifford of Oran, Mo.; and April Dudley of Scott City.

Dudley, a first-time participant, received third place in the speech competition. Hileman received first place in the piano competition. Hopple received two awards, one in speech and one in art. Gifford received first place in comedic oral interpretation.
