A job training resources forum will be held Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational-Technical School, 301 N. Clark, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The forum will bring together representatives of agencies with money available for job training, said Dorothy Hardy, director of the Single Parent Program at the vocational school.
"When I assessed this year's intake records I found over two dozen single parents had come in already," Hardy said. "Over 50 percent need financial assistance to pay tuition or to enter our job training programs. In addition, there have been changes in local agencies responsible for providing funds to eligible persons."
Her concern that single parents would be kept out of the training pool because of a lack of funding led her to look for other money. She discovered several other funding sources are available, but earmarked for certain counties in the Bootheel.
"It's time to bring representatives from all the funding agencies together so they can tell us the kinds of trainees they're seeking and what it takes to qualify for tuition, child care, transportation and supplemental assistance."
The forum is open to anyone interested in learning about money available from federal and state agencies.
