An early morning fire started when a Jeep hit a gas pump at the Amerimart in Fruitland. The pump was destroyed, but little other damage was done, a store employee said.

The Amerimart station, 5410 U.S. 61, did business as usual during the remainder of the day following the fire, which occurred about 6 a.m., said J.D. Schlick, an employee of the convenience store.

"It was just a guy's truck that came out of park and backed into it," Schlick said.

Two of the store's eight pumps were put out of commission by the fire, he said.
