CAPE GIRARDEAU - Dr. Jerry Richardson, assistant professor of music at Southeast Missouri State University, will be joined by the "Faculty Three and Friends" for a jazz recital Monday. The musical evening will begin at 8:15 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.
Although primarily a guitarist, Richardson also performs as a saxophonist and vocalist. He has been an active jazz-pop performer throughout Southeast Missouri and has performed with such touring entertainers as drummer Ed Shaughnessy, Bob Hope, The Drifters, The Shirrells, and jazz saxophonist Nathan Davis.
Joining Richardson in the "Faculty Three" are bassist Dr. David Green and percussionist Dan Dunavan. Green and Dunavan are associate professors of music at Southeast. "Faculty Three" will be joined by pianist Bud Miget, vocalist Jean Miget, and instrumentalist John Kinnison, all professional jazz musicians.
The concert will feature Richardson performing such jazz standards as "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," "Stomping at the Savoy," and Latin tunes such as "Corcovado" and "One Note Samba." Later in the concert, he will be joined by the "Faculty Three and Friends" to perform songs from the "Be Bop," "Cool" and "Swing" jazz eras.
