Upcoming at the Missouri Botanical Garden is the Whitaker Jazz Festival on Wednesday nights from June 3-July 8.
The lineup is:
-- June 3 -- New World Harmonic Jazz with the Carolbeth Trio and harmonica virtuoso Sandy Weltman performing tunes from Louis Amstrong to Chick Corea.
-- June 10 -- Quartet Tres Bien, traditional jazz.
-- June 17 -- Juneteenth Heritage Festival featuring New York jazz vocalist Lisa Michel.
-- June 24 -- A cappella pop, ragtime, jazz, gospel, reggae, classical and doo-wop octet Pieces of 8.
-- July 1 -- Cotton Club revue with Jimmy Jones and Friends.
-- July 8 -- Contemporary funky jazz sounds of the Groove Merchants.
Concerts are at 7:30 p.m. at the garden's Cohen Amphitheater. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic supper. Box dinners can be ordered by calling (314) 577-9528. A cash bar is available.
Guests are asked not to bring glass containers or alcoholic beverages onto the grounds.
