Frederick T. Janzow will present the address during summer commencement exercises Friday at Southeast Missouri State University. Janzow is a professor of biology at Southeast.
Pandora Taylor of Jackson will lead the 1992 class of 207 undergraduates. Taylor has a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and will receive a bachelor of science degree in education.
In addition, 74 graduate students will receive degrees during commencement scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Show Me Center.
Sixteen undergraduates and 44 graduate students will be honored during the Honors Convocation scheduled for 4 p.m. in Academic Auditorium. The undergraduates have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average, and the graduate students have achieved at least a 3.8 grade point average.
Janzow, the commencement speaker, earned a bachelor of science degree from Concordia Teachers College, and a master of science and a doctoral degree from Oklahoma State University.
He joined the faculty at Southeast in 1975. Since then, he has taught 16 different courses. He is the author of 16 published articles, abstracts and technical reports, and he has made presentations at 30 universities or professional conferences. Many of his recent articles and presentations focus on the "freshman experience."
He has been engaged in various advanced study projects, including two 1991 workshops entitled "Intellectual Development of College Students" and "Critical Thinking Workshop."
