BENTON -- James Harold Lawless, 70, of Benton, died Thursday, May 19, 1994, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 2, 1923, at Marmaduke, Ark., son of William and Mary Cole Lawless.

He married Angie Dunlap, Aug. 19, 1941.

Lawless was a veteran of World War II, having served on a submarine in the U.S. Navy.

He owned and operated Morley Farm Supply for 26 years.

Lawless was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Benton, where he also served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry Lawless of Lapeer, Mich., Stanley Lawless of Sumerton, Ariz., Marvin Lawless of Benton; a daughter, Elaine Rikoon of Columbia; two sisters, Jewel Hribar of Fort Myers, Fla., Laura McNew of Senath; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, and from 10 a.m. to the time of funeral services Saturday at the Unity Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Dale Huff officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
