In anticipation of the Jackson In Bloom event, Jackson’s annual Park Day will take place Saturday.

Residents are invited to volunteer time to help beautify the city’s parks.

Cleanup will begin at 8 a.m. at shelter 1 on Parkview Street in the main City Park.

Parks and Recreation director Shane Anderson said about 100 volunteers typically show up to help each year.

No registration is necessary, and volunteers will receive a T-shirt and free lunch at 11 a.m.

“This event is an opportunity for the community to help clean and beautify the park. Individuals and service groups are welcome,” Anderson said via email. “If interested and cannot attend on April 30, call Jackson parks and recreation, (573) 204-8848 to help on other days or for more information.”
