JACKSON, Mo. -- A Jackson woman was killed Wednesday when she apparently rear-ended a tractor-trailer truck on Interstate 55.
Funeral for Becky Ramona Floyd, 41, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Police said Floyd was traveling north on I-55 at about 7:15 p.m. when she struck the rear of the truck, which also was northbound. Her vehicle became wedged under the trailer, which was hauling heavy equipment, police said.
The driver of the truck, Robert Stokes Dyer of Sikeston, Mo., told police he felt the bump and thought he had blown a tire.
Dyer was not injured in the accident.
Cape Girardeau County Coroner Mike Hurst pronounced Floyd dead at the scene.
A dietary assistant at Southeast Missouri Hospital for the past 23 years, Floyd was a choreographer of Hi-Cotn Western Dancers and board member of Country Club Western Dancers.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Duane Floyd; a son, Michael Floyd of Jackson; a daughter, Angie Floyd of Cape Girardeau; and her mother, Kathy Woods of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
