Jackson woman injured in Saturday accident

A Jackson woman was seriously injured in a crash on County Road 620 in Cape Girardeau County on Saturday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Melissa Lane, 25, was traveling west on the road two miles west of Cape Girardeau when the 1996 GMC Sonoma she was driving ran off the right side of the roadway, swerved back across the road and hit an embankment on the left side of the roadway.

Lane was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Lane's vehicle threw gravel on another vehicle traveling east, a 2008 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Scott Murphy, 30, of Cape Girardeau. Murphy was not injured and drove the vehicle from the scene.
