The city of Jackson will again be collecting Christmas trees at the Recycling Center, 508 Eastview Court, for use in a stream bank stabilization project in city park.
A separate area will be marked near the yard-waste pits for Christmas trees, according to a news release from the Public Works Department. All ornaments, tinsel and other decorations should be removed from the trees before dropping them off.
This will be the third year of work on a section of stream bank in city park where severe erosion has occurred, the release said.
Anyone interested in using Christmas trees and other practices to stabilize creek banks and protect property from erosion may contact staff engineer Erica Bogenpohl at 243-2300, extension 45, for more information.
