JACKSON -- Carrie Heise, 16, of Jackson has been accepted as a state finalist in the Miss American Teen pageant to be held in Kansas City July 2-3.

She will be judged on personality, poise, stage appearance, personal interview and achievements.

Heise is an honor student at Jackson High School, where she will be a junior in the fall. She participates in the girl's choir, concert band, and is a member of SADD and Spanish Club. She is a senior cadette in Girl Scouts and enjoys playing soccer on both recreational and competitive levels.

She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and is the daughter of Wayne and Kathy Heise of Jackson.
