Police said a Jackson teenager was moderately injured Saturday afternoon when a vehicle pulled out in front of the vehicle she was driving on Kingshighway.

Sgt. Carl Eakins said driver Heather Green, 18, of 623 Greensferry in Jackson, was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was treated and released, said a hospital spokeswoman.

Also injured were two passengers in the other vehicle: Virginia L. Faries, 58, and Geneva Black, 77, both of Cahokia, Ill. They sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Eakins said the accident occurred at Kingshighway and Interstate 55 at 4:25 p.m. when a vehicle driven by Robert J. Faries, also of Cahokia, pulled into the path of the Green vehicle, which was westbound on Kingshighway. Eakins said the accident happened after the Faries vehicle had come off the interstate.

Faries was not injured. Police charged him with failure to yield, Eakins said.

Eakins said a seven-month-old child in the Green vehicle suffered no injuries. The child, a girl, was in a car seat in the back seat, he said.
