The court proceedings for Jonathan McClard, the 16-year-old charged with armed criminal action and first degree assault, have been relocated to Mississippi County.

Patrick M. McMenamin, McClard's attorney, requested the change of venue from Cape Girardeau County Monday morning in a hearing before Circuit Judge William L. Syler.

The Jackson teen is accused of shooting another teenager, Jeremy Voshage, 17, also of Jackson, three times during a confrontation concerning McClard's ex-girlfriend.

The shooting occurred the evening of July 10 at the Shawnee Square Car Wash in Jackson.

Video surveillance cameras captured McClard at the scene minutes before Voshage was shot, according to the probable cause statement signed by Lt. Rodney Barnes of the Jackson police.

Voshage suffered gunshot wounds to the ankle, groin, and midsection. Two of the bullets remain lodged in his hip because doctors were unable to safely remove them, and he is mostly paralyzed below the waist.

At a hearing on Sept. 6, Circuit Judge Scott Thomsen ruled that McClard should stand trial as an adult because of both the nature of the allegations and because McClard's juvenile record suggests previous attempts at rehabilitation were unsuccessful.

McClard was transferred from the Cape Girardeau Juvenile Detention Center to the county jail, where he is held on $250,000 bond.
