The construction schedule for Jackson High School is on track.
All of the bonds have been sold, and as of Wednesday the $23 million is in an account the school board can access.
The amount includes a reserve fund of $2.3 million required by law and about $700,000 to pay fees for such things as legal work.
The construction will be conducted in two phases.
During phase one, a music addition, lunchroom, kitchen, commons area, an events center and two new art rooms will be constructed. The construction will connect the C building, new building and the multipurpose building into one building. The annex addition and remodeling and a new storage and warehouse facility will also occur during phase one.
Site work for the new parking lot will possibly take place in between the phases.
During phase two, a new classroom building, library and a new dressing room addition on the old gym will be constructed.
Superintendent Dr. Ron Anderson says he is on the phone with the architects almost daily and meets with them at least once a week.
"It's been a progress of working on the plans. They've been working on them since we got the green light and now they're putting in the details," Anderson said.
Construction is slated to begin in spring, but Anderson said he isn't sure exactly what month yet.
The architects are working with the school board to make sure all the safety codes are met so student activities can continue through the construction.
"There will be some inconveniences, but the students do better than adults in these situations," Anderson said.
