JACKSON -- The Jackson School District expects more than $22.3 million in revenue for the current fiscal year under a revised budget outlined Tuesday night.
Dr. Terry Gibbons, the assistant superintendent for finance, explained the district's estimated revenues during the Board of Education meeting. Estimated expenditures will be outlined next month.
The breakdown of revenue sources is 53 percent from local and county sources, 41 percent from the state, 4 percent from the federal government and 1 percent from other sources.
In monetary terms, the local and county portion is $11,067,167, more than half of which comes from property taxes. The state provides $9,249,133 while federal funds amount to $986,218. Tuition for students from other districts, primarily Nell Holcomb, comes to $270,000.
In other matters:
-- The board set the filing period for the upcoming school board elections. The seats held by T. Wayne Lewis, Darryl Hanchen and Vicki McDowell are up for election. Interested candidates may file for election at the district offices, 614 E. Adams, during business hours from Dec. 22 to Jan. 19.
-- A special meeting will be held Friday at 7 p.m. to go over applications for district superintendent. The meeting will be closed to the public.
-- A one-year contract paying $9,120 with the accounting firm of Hillin and Clark to audit district finances was approved.
