The Jackson School Board was scheduled to meet in closed session Monday evening to continue reviewing applications for superintendent of the school district.

Ron Anderson, who has served in that capacity since 1999, announced his retirement in early December. He is scheduled to step down June 30.

Anderson, 70, began his career in Nebraska, teaching for six years before moving into administration. He spent 10 years as a superintendent in Nebraska and 13 years as superintendent in Liberty, Missouri, before beginning his tenure in Jackson.

Bonnie Stahlman, secretary to the Jackson School Board, said Monday's meeting was the third time members had met to discuss candidates. The application deadline for anyone interested in applying for the post closed last week.

No decisions were expected to be reached at Monday's meeting, she said, and board members have not yet begun interviewing applicants.
