Charles W. Guenther of Jackson was recently awarded the 2003 Caller Hall of Fame plaque for his promotion and support of square dancing

Approximately 850 square dancers attended the 44th Annual Missouri Federation of Square 'N Round Dance Clubs held in Lebanon, Mo.

The event was sponsored by square dancers and clubs in Southeast Missouri, including Cape County Swingers of Jackson and Roll-A-Ways Club of Cape Girardeau.

Attending the festival were residents of Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas and Oklahoma.

A highlight of the annual event, the Caller Hall of Fame Award was received by Guenther, a caller/instructor from Jackson. He served as master of ceremonies, representing the Southeast District.

Guenther has taught classes and called for clubs in Missouri and Illinois since 1978. He attended Caller's College in 1982 and is a member of Caller Lab.

The Caller Hall of Fame Award was initiated in 1991 and has been awarded annually since that time.
