JACKSON -- Kimberly A. Sides of Jackson has received a President's Scholarship and a Missouri Leadership Award to attend Southeast Missouri State University during the 1991-92 academic year.
The President's Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who meet the following criteria: Rank in the upper 15 percent of their high school class and score a 23 on the ACT; rank in the upper 20 percent of their high school class and score a 24 on the ACT; or graduate as their class valedictorian or salutatorian.
The scholarship is for $1,000 per academic year and is renewable for a possible four years if a 3.5 grade point average is maintained. The Missouri Leadership Award is a one-year award of $500 that is given to Missouri students who have demonstrated leadership and academic abilities.
Sides is a senior at Jackson High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, History Club, French Club, Project Alert, school newspaper staff, speech and debate teams, Project Hi-Step, and SADD.
Sides plans to major in political science at Southeast. She is the daughter of Rodney and Sharon Sides of Jackson.
