The trails at Jackson City Park are a bit longer after the city completed a trail-extension project Friday.
Contractors from Jokerst Inc. began and completed the work in one day, laying about 2,000 feet of 6-foot-wide paved trail running from North Union Avenue and West Mary Street to Safety City on Optimist Hill Drive.
The project cost $13,725.00 and used chip-seal asphalt rather than traditional asphalt, which would have cost about twice as much.
"We're always working to improve our trails," said Jackson staff engineer Erica Bogenpohl.
