JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will hold its weekly concert tonight at 8 at the band shell in the Jackson City Park. Pat Schwent will conduct.
Special guest for the concert will be Jonathan Stewart, a Southeast Missouri State University graduate with a degree in vocal performance. He attended graduate school at Indiana University and is completing his master's degree in choral conducting at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Stewart has performed with the Shorter Chorale out of Rome, Ga., and with the St. Louis Voices. He is director of music for Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and lives in Jackson with his wife, Pam, and their three children.
The band's performance will include "Irving Berlin Showstoppers," "Let the Spirit Soar," "Classic Rock and Roll" and "Grey Hound March."
There is no charge, and people are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
