JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will hold its last weekly concert at the band shell in the city park tonight at 8 p.m.

The band will also perform Tuesday for the opening of Jackson Homecomers, and will play the season's final concert on Aug. 20 in the gazebo on the court house lawn.

Special guests this week will be the duo of Daron and Cary Nall. These two performers were rained out earlier in the season. Cousins, the Nalls have been singing together since they were very young. Daron's father, Ron, is band director at Cape Girardeau Central High School. Cary's father, Dennis, is the choir director at Festus High School.

Both are currently attending Southeast Missouri State University. Daron is currently performing with the Southeast Missouri University Choir and is working toward a degree in art. Cary is majoring in music education and has been active in the University Choir and other ensembles.

They will perform songs including "It Is Well With My Soul," "Make His Praise Glorious," and "Another Time, Another Place."

The band's portion of the concert will include "First Suite in Eb" by Halst, Mike Grebing will be featured playing the plunger trumpet on "Standard Pop Favorites," a collection of tunes performed by the Big Dance Bands entitled "Big Band Salute," Sousa's "Army and Marine March." Pat Schwent will perform solos on "Alto Moods," "Golden Slip Horns" and "Johnson Rag."

Those attending the free concert should bring lawn chairs.
