The Jackson Municipal Band will hold its weekly concert at 8 tonight at the band shell in the city park.

Julie Walker will be special guest. She is a 1980 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where she performed with the University Choir and starred in several musicals. After college, Walker taught in Warrenton for eight years, and recently moved back to Jackson.

She sings for weddings, nursing homes and at various civic organization events. She directs the Grace United Methodist Church choir and is working as an instructor at the Parent Cooperative Child Development Center.

She will accompany herself on the guitar and will perform several folk songs plus original compositions.

The instrumental portion of the concert will include: "Rondo," featuring Andrea Vrbosky as French horn soloist; "Fantasy on American Sailing Songs;" "Emblem of Unity;" a collection of popular favorites entitled "Pop and Rock Legends;" "Pride of the Wolverines" and the theme from "Beverly Hills 90210."

The concert is free and lawn chairs are recommended.
