A Jackson man was sentenced to 14 years in prison Friday on two counts of statutory sodomy for having sexual relations with a 12-year-old girl, Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle announced.

A Jackson man was sentenced to 14 years in prison Friday on two counts of statutory sodomy for having sexual relations with a 12-year-old girl, Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle announced. Roy T. Phillips, 40, pleaded guilty to the charges Friday in exchange for Swingle's office dropping three additional statutory sodomy counts. Circuit Judge Benjamin Lewis sentenced Phillips to seven years on each count and ordered the sentences to run consecutively. The plea and sentencing took place at the Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau.
